Working in the world of graphic design can be very broad and fun until a client comes along and says, “I like it, but… add more design to it.” First paragraph and I already mention one of the things that designers DON’T do, but we can show you why adding more design to your design can ruin your branding and how your clients will perceive you.

What Can Graphic Designers Do For You?

Now, what can graphic designers do for you? Well, we work on the visual aspect of your website, mobile app, or operating system; we can create the logo that represents your company for many years until it becomes obsolete and you decide to rebrand (which we also do). We make your day fun when you dive into social media and visually recreate the things that your company’s Social Media comes up with. Aren’t we great?

You know those printed magazines you read? Yes, we also create their covers and layouts. You know what we DON’T do? The content that goes in them, for that, they hire a writer or someone specialized in that field.

… And What They Don’t

You know what not all designers do? Illustrate. Not all of us create great illustrations. But, there are designers who are so great and specialize in illustration as a second career or a career that complements design.

No, we also don’t do audiovisual editing. For that, there’s a career specializing in audiovisual material. But, as everything good complements each other, we take care of doing some little things to make their work easier: sometimes the designs for curtains, how a sign will look, etc. And just as it happens with illustration, there are also designers who decide to specialize in the audiovisual part to complement their career.

Creating the branding for the company or brand is something we do. NOTE: it’s very important to understand that adding more design to the design is not always functional because when it’s transferred to packaging (another thing that designers do), it can be visually uncomfortable for you as a client and for the future consumers.

Things a graphic designer cannot do? Add more design to the design. We’re so great that we can do everything, except that.

Everything is in jest, of course there are many things we can’t do. That’s why you have to consider the limitations of the graphic designer you want to hire. Remember that each career has its specialty, the same goes for design. We can specialize in some subjects outside our career, however, not everyone does that.

Remember that communication is key. The clearer you communicate your needs to the graphic designer, the better they can help you achieve your goals. Contact us!
