The Asian country, Singapore, launches facial verification to promote the digital economy in that country. This development is already carried out together with the British company iProov. In this sense, the company explains that facial verification and facial recognition are two different terms. In the first case, required the consent of the citizen, while in the second there is no consent, the face is scanned and the person is identified using comparison with other unknown faces.
Therefore, Singapore seeks to automate processes and also seeks the safety of the citizens. It’s also a way to provide information on whether that person is really in the place where they say they are and also avoid fraud or identity theft.
