Artificial Intelligence is no longer the utopia to which we were accustomed in Hollywood. It is already among us filtering day by day in our daily lives, on many occasions to facilitate our tasks and others indirectly while they learn from our behavior when they consume information.
That is why in this article we are going to do a little review about the types of AI that exist and what each of them is for.
Narrow artificial intelligence (ANI):
It is a type of artificial intelligence incapable of simulating human behavior, its main function is an exclusive dedication to a single role. Although it seems to be limiting and unattractive, it is the type of artificial intelligence that we use the most daily. Since it is what we find in virtual assistants such as Alexa, Siri, or in the facial recognition of our smartphones, the filters they use in our email electronics to detect spam or autonomous vehicle systems.
General Artificial Intelligence:
This type of AI is capable of imitating human behavior, it can replicate attitudes, solve different scenarios and learn from them. They are machines that can detect and evaluate needs, processes, and even emotions that lead to making their own decisions.
Artificial Superintelligence:
Also called ASI, it refers to machines capable of becoming fully conscious and autonomous. While machines with general AI are dedicated to replicating human behavior, those that work with ASI can do it better than a human and therefore the result is better. This type of AI is in continuous development and its implementation is very meticulous due to the consequences it could generate. Because if we are sure of something, it is that we do not want robots to dominate the world.
Reactive machines:
This type of AI is the oldest and therefore the simplest, it refers to a machine that reproduces a behavior once it is requested. These reactive machines do not have a memory so they cannot learn.
Limited memory:
These are a type of fully reactive AI machine. However, by having memory, it can learn from the data it handles. Today we can see this type of AI in the chatbots with which we interact on many websites.
Theory of mind:
So far it is the least developed type of AI, but it tries to evaluate and learn about the emotions, needs, and reflection processes of the human mind.
Self-awareness:
At the moment it is only a concept without any type of development, but it deals with those machines that are aware of themselves, capable of understanding human actions and emotions, and having their own. It is quite an ambitious and dangerous process, but this is the greatest scope we could have on AI issues and where scientists are pointing.
Now that you know what types of artificial intelligence we are currently exposed to and where the developments of companies are pointing, do you know what types of AI you use in your daily life? Tell us in this post and share it with your acquaintances.
